Our exciting new collection of rugs makes a strong colour statement that will surely take you by surprise… The play on textures throws a strikingly modern twist on our rugs this year, and you can expect to see a plethora of textures ranging from interesting to extreme. Our creative collaborations with designers from around the world have resulted in designs that are different from anything that we have done before.

Bosphorus – a new dimension to rugs.
The Bosphorus Collection draws from ancient motifs and historical references while recombining these elements into new contemporary compositions. The colourings move from soothing monochromatic to bold, avant garde polychromes. Expertly executed in combination of viscose and wool, these transitional carpets are progressive in their styling yet extremely versatile in their application.
Redefining luxury with the Luxe Collection…
The stunning Luxe collection of contemporary designs brings paintings, photographs and artistic impressions to the loom. The weaver becomes an artist, drawing inspiration from works of art to create woven fantasies. Hand knotted with the finest Afghan wool, these rugs create ambience of luxury and comfort at the cutting edge of design.
MEDLEY COLLECTION Flat weaves make a comeback…
A play of monochromatic hues and textures sets apart our collection of modern flat weaves this year. The movement of color with strong Abrash effects is reminiscent of the old hand-dyeing techniques used by nomadic weavers of yore. Minimalist designs and trendy colors ensure that these rugs lend themselves beautifully to the modern design aesthetic.

We are excited to introduce the ‘Firdaus’ collection of classical designs interpreted in today’s colors, thus incorporating the best of both worlds for our discerning customers.

Based on the “naksha”, or a master plan, the design is plotted on a huge graph paper, each square of which represents one knot. Nakshas are made with colors much brighter than those eventually used in the rug. Each color on the naksha indicates a specific shade of yarn, enabling the weaver to read the design easily

The woolen yarn, which can be either hand spun or machine spun, is dyed in our state-of-the-art dyeing facilities and checked for color-fastness from exposure to light and rubbing.

The loom is prepared for weaving a hand knotted rug by setting two rows of warps that are stretched vertically and closely from the top of the loom, to bottom. The rug progresses as knot after knot of woolen yarn on the warps, is tied.
After a row is woven, a cotton thread is put between the two rows of warps and is hammered down. This is the first weft which gives the rug its body. A second weft interlocks the warps across each row to keep the knots in place. These are then beaten down to ensure they stay even. This is repeated until the rug is entirely woven.

Washing, clipping the excess pile, color sorting to clarify the pattern, and stretching to ensure symmetry, are only a few of the many stages in the finishing process. The most important of these is washing. OBEETEE specializes in a wide range of washing techniques, each of which imparts a different look to the rug.

Through a network of 24 satellite depots, Obeetee has over 75 fulltime executives and supervisors whose sole purpose is to inspect our 10,000 looms and tufting frames over an area of nearly 60,000 square miles. Every loom is inspected at least once every 15 days with additional surprise inspections from the head office at least once every 60 days. From these inspections, the company maintains detailed information on each and every weaver and their families to ensure that only those approved by OBEETEE are working on our products. This inspection system, which Obeetee developed during the 1980’s, along with other product quality controls, is random, frequent, and thoroughly documented.
